Verify compatibility between the plugin and your current WordPress version. Download the latest version of the plugin from an official source and save it on your local machine. Navigate to /wp-content/plugins/ and download this folder to your computer to serve as a backup. Locate the directory of the plugin you want to update and delete it from FTP.
